System Strategic Planners Council

Function:

The System Strategic Planners Council (Planners Council) plays an integral role in helping to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of planning process a system wide. The Planners Council will meet approximately three times annually to share information and updates, collaborate around best practices in higher education planning, discuss current planning issues and solutions, and provide feedback and advice. Individual members will volunteer on sub-committees, which will meet more frequently, to help design and move planning process forward.

The role of the Planners Council is to:

  1. Volunteer Workforce: Serve as a volunteer work force to help establish major planning functions and processes across the system, such as environmental scanning, stakeholder and group engagement practices, an annual review and refresh process, design and execution of major annual planning events, and review and refinement of our planning model.
  2. On-going, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing: Engage in ongoing, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and collaboration about how strategic planning is currently designed an executed systemwide; best practices and innovative ideas in higher education planning; and planning lessons learned and encountered, along with their solutions, to lead improvements and policies and practices related to institutional planning.
  3. Internal Information Source: Serve as an information source within individual campuses, colleges, and units concerning planning policies and practices to help stimulate valuable dialogue around planning, develop a common language of planning, align institutional planning efforts and processes, and advance a culture of planning at WSU.
  4. Training and Education: participate in training and education activities to build comments are teaching planning skills and competencies across the system.
