Cougs Doing Their Part

Washington State University students came together to partake in the first-ever system-wide community service event. The Caring Cougar Cards Project was a project done to send kind messages to people in hospitals, assisted living centers, or others who need a bit of a “pick me up” or lifted spirits. This event took place among all WSU campuses including WSU’s online Global Campus where students would send their letters to the organizers to be sent out or to the individuals directly.

This blatant act of kindness has improved the days of many people in the community and speaks volumes about our students and faculty. The saying ‘cougs help cougs’ continue to rain truly through each and every event affiliated with the university. It is the basic morals the school was developed upon. Here at WSU, it isn’t only about the school but the people that are a part of our community affiliated or not.

WSU will continue to run events such as these to help establish an even better connection with our communities. We are constantly trying to find ways to not only involve the community but also to bring positivity and happiness to the people that reside in and around the multiple WSU locations. WSU plans on becoming one of the national leaders in advancing quality of life, economic development, sustainability, and equity through meaningful engagement in discovery, education, and service throughout not only the state but the world.

WSU is always thinking of ways to open up to the entire system and become inclusive to all people and continue to adapt to an ever-changing world. As a university, we will be providing training for all WSU personnel to learn about the University’s land-grant history and mission to improve and coordinate communication through various people and entities.
